It's weird when you find yourself saying something about someone else that people have told you that you do. When it's a bad thing, it really hits home and makes you realize what a shitty feeling it causes.

Commercials are getting really bad strange.

I am sitting here enjoying my soaps with a greek lady salad, and a commercial for hair dye, probably Loreal or something, came on. Instead of the normal woman who has actually used the hair dye and is able to show how it looks, it was a guy speaking. Maybe I am the only one who finds this extremely odd. A guy, talking about multi-tonal hair. "That's beautiful," he says, as some unknown model's hair is shown. My problems with it are these: first, it's a man. A good-looking man. So am I more likely to go dye my hair because a good-looking man said he thinks it's beautiful? Maybe. But probably not. In fact, for me personally, not at all. Second, I'm pretty sure most guys don't notice whether your hair is multi-tonal or single-tonal. They'd notice if it was a weird color, but other than that...no offense guys, I don't give you too much credit in the hair color department. Third, as I mentioned before, I think it's more convincing to get a spokesperson who has actually used the product, or one that could viably use it, rather that one who has not and cannot. The man then ended the commercial with "Because you're worth it." Let me get this straight. I'm worth it because you, a man who probably knows nothing about hair dye and the intricacies women put into it, a man who most likely doesn't use hair dye himself, is going to tell me something about being worth it? Give me a break.

The next commercial to come on took place in the feminine hygiene aisle of a drug store. I won't get into this one much as it's a gross topic for me to even be discussing in my blog. So, then, since TV is much more widely seen than my blog, I think it's even more disgusting for it to be an open topic of serious discussion in that venue as well (except for the Dr. Pepper commercial where the guy would "do anything for love" and goes out and buys tampons for his girlfriend. That's hilarious). But to delve into this topic in as much detail as they now do on TV is pretty raunchy in my view.

Along that same vein, the commercials about ED are getting pretty explicit also. Not explicit as in people are having sex on their kitchen floor as soon as the drug kicks in, and it's all right there in the commercial, but I am surprised to find that they allow the phrase "so you can have a strong, lasting erection when you want it" for anyone to hear. With this one I'm just wondering why they call it "ED" and not the whole name: Erectile Dysfunction. I guess they don't want the guys who take those pills to feel like they have a problem. Except...no offense...they do.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not freaking out about these. I'm not going to call up my local congress representative and demand they be taken off the air, and I probably won't even bring it up again in conversation, since it's not that interesting of a topic to begin with (although I guess it was interesting enough to me to write a blog entry about it). I don't really feel passionate about these commercials, I just think TV is getting worse and worse, and I want to know where and when it's going to stop.
Scott leant me his brass knuckles so I can wear them when I walk around late at night.

Also, the kitchen still smells like the burnt popcorn I made last night. Ick.

Hey remember in the summer when a sunny say meant that it was actually WARM out, as opposed to 17 degrees? It seems like a dream...being a color other than ghost white, going outside in shorts and a tank top and not dying of hypothermia... Those were the good days.

I suppose cold weather is acceptable if you have someone to cuddle with. And no, I don't mean the spanish composition I've been writing since 10 a.m. Or the mice in my room.

Ok, ok, I'll tell you that I got a solo. I just didn't mention it before because.....well, just because. It's Avril Lavigne - Nobody's Home (the words are so corny...she rhymes the word home with home...which isn't a rhyme even because it's the same word!!).

Hey, it's ok because boys solo auditions went from 1 til about 9:30. Sweet lord. It was 10 guys auditioning for 7 songs and it was pretty hard. That's all.

Girl's solo auditions are today. I am nervous. I hope I get a solo. I have my eye on a specific one...

Songpicking Wednesday night took 11 1/2 hours. We needed another girls' song after that, so we spent about an hour picking that last night. Sweet lord.

All I can say is that every time things are perfect I know they won't last.

Back at the good ol' Newport library for the second time today. Because we are stuck here and won't get back tomorrow, which makes everything harder. I came back cause I had an email from my spanish teacher for this upcoming semester with my HOMEWORK for class on Monday. I was pissed off but I was gonna print everything and read it tonight, except a) there's no paper in this printer, and b) it will probably only take me a couple minutes to do anyway, so either I'll do it tomorrow when I get to school (doubtful) or Monday morning before class.

My mom and I rented two movies and we're maybe gonna bake cookies tonight.

:-/
Dear today:

You fucking suck. Kiss my ass, and thanks for making the end of my vacation suck.

Yours truly,

Beetlebum

Last full day in Newport (hopefully). I had a great time but man am I excited to go back. There are weather reports saying tomorrow might be a mix of rain/sleet/snow, and my mom said she won't drive home in it. Sooo I am kind of really worried because I am gonna be pissed off to say the least if I don't get back Saturday. SATURDAY! That's tomorrow.

I am so excited!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a quick post from Newport to say that Steve Hofstetter made fun of me in his column.

"The funniest message I got was from a student asking me if I was going to make fun of her in my act or in my column. I told her that I am linked to 5,000 people on the site, and if I made fun of all of them individually, it'd be a very boring column. So, no, I will not make fun of her in my column. At all. Not even in this paragraph."

So, I am sort of kind of famous, anonymously. But I know it was me, he knows it was me, Natalie knows it was me, and now you know too.

So... :-D

Also...I got an A- in music theory!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy. Plus I finally got rid of German and added abnormal psych instead. That class is at 10:30 in the morning, though, so I may still do some switching around. I'd like to drop the philosophy class I added and take social psychology instead, but it won't let me add social psych because apparently I need a permit. I'll look into that later.

In other news, I can't wait to go back to school. I am counting down the days. Being alone with just my mom is not always fun. Sometimes, but not always.

If I could have a super power I would want the ability to read people's minds.

I'd like to know how you're doing.

"So this is the new year
And I don't feel any different..."
- Death Cab

New Years is always such a big deal. What to do on New Years Eve? And then it comes and goes as if nothing is different. Nothing really is different.

I should really be packing now.

My mom and I went to Ulta and some furniture store today. Not very exciting but I did get some eyeliner. She was amazed when I told her malls and stores would be open. Of course they'll be open: what else is there to do on new years day than shop? Well, aside from being with family, of course. But you could shop with family.

When we got back we both needed a nap. My bed and my grandparents' old bed are covered with my stuff - things I am bringing to Newport and things to take back to school, etc. - so I couldn't sleep in either of them and ended up napping for two hours in my mom's bed. It was a yummy nap.
Soooooo, first post of 2005. How is it this year? I know I say that every year, but...for serious. I remember when 2003 seemed so far away and I couldn't fathom it ever arriving. Now it's two years later and even harder to comprehend.

I'm pretty tired right now considering I got probably five hours of sleep last night. I partied at school w/ Breton and his friend Kevin and a bunch of people I didn't know but met but don't remember their names. It was a fun time. More later.
